Get Out Your Checkered Flags...Our Car Craft is Raring to Go!
Use this easy transportation activity to help teach traffic safety to young kids.
This easy craft idea can be put to so many uses. First, print out our template and let the kids color their cars. Then, print out the template as a placard and use for teaching road safety.
Personally, I use this as a teaching prop in an ESL lesson for younger kids. My group of 2-3 year olds love to "wear" their cars and zoom around the room as they learn the words "car" and "I am the driver" and "I'm driving my car."
No matter how you use it, this car coloring picture will provide you with lots of easy child craft fun.
Let's take a quick look at what you'll need to make this craft!
For placard: print out on colored construction paper
Cut out car shape
Using a hole-punch, make two holes at the sides and thread using ribbon or string
That's it! You're ready to roll!
How to Use Craft
1. The first use would be simply as a coloring page. As the kids color, you can talk about transportation safety.
2. This car template can also be used as a learning tool when teaching ESL to young kids. Each child is given a car cutout to wear around his/her neck or "Velcro-ed" to the front of their shirts. Give each student a play steering wheel and "zoom"
around the room singing a car themed song.
