Stick Around for "Fun With Stick Puppets"!to Make!

Nothing beats stick puppets when you need an easy, inexpensive craft to make with kids of all ages. Cut outs from magazines, books, comics, etc. make characters easy to find! Got a great idea for a puppet show? Just grab some scissors (but make sure you've got Mom's permission before you attack her favorite magazines :) If you're up to creating your own brand of puppets, use our examples for inspiration!

We used foam sheets and wiggle eyes for our favorite animal puppets. But you could just as easily use construction paper and some crayons and markers! That's the great thing about easy to make puppets....the sky (and your imagination) are the limit. So let's get crafting!

Okay....Are you ready? Let's go!

Here's what you'll need:

Materials

A printer--our template comes in pdf form
Construction paper, white printer paper or foam sheets (which is what we used to craft our puppets)
Craft sticks or popsicle sticks
Wiggle eyes
Scissors
Glue stick, white glue or a glue gun (adult supervision required)
Markers, crayons, colored pencils (your choice)

Instructions

Print out the template.

Cut out the template pieces.

Place the template on the material of your choice (construction paper, foam sheets, felt, etc.) and cut out.

Decorate the template pieces to your liking using either crayons, colored pencils, or markers . (Here's your chance to make this craft your own!)

Use our pictures as reference as to the placement of the body parts.

When you're finished, glue the puppet to the popsicle/craft stick.

That's it....let the glue dry before you start playing and performing with your puppets!
