An Easy Sand Craft
Build a Sand Castle in Your Own Backyard
We found an easy sand craft that lets you bring the fun of the beach into your own backyard (without all the "sandy" mess)! If your kids love to build in the sand, then this summer craft idea is for you.
Stir up our special recipe to provide your kids with the "sand" they'll need to shape their own keepsake sand sculptures. Invite the whole family to "dig in" and make your own sand castle city. If you run out of time...don't worry. Store your sand in an airtight container and continue another day.
Supplies
- 1 cup sand
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 3/4 cup hot water
- old saucepan
- Old spoon
Instructions
- Mix sand, constarch and cream of tartar in an old saucepan
- Add water
- Cook over medium heat while stirring continuously until the mixture is too thick to stir
- Allow to slightly cool
- Mold into desired shapes
The sand takes a couple of days to dry. You can keep leftover clay in an airtight container and use it another day.
Makes 2 cups.
