Deck the halls with this preschool Christmas craft idea. Young kids love to cut and paste, so these unique paper chain crafts guarantee cool holiday decorating that everyone will enjoy.
Start with your basic paper chain craft. You know the one: link after link provides you with a colorful chain that you make as long as you like. Use red and green construction paper or why not try using holiday wrapping paper for a new twist? Cut strips of paper as thick or thin as you like, and then glue (or staple) the ends for your first link. Add link after link for your special holiday garland. Use these chains as tree decorations or just string them wall to wall!

Basic Paper Chain
Supplies:
- Colored construction paper (red and green for Christmas)
- Scissors
- Glue, scotch tape or a stapler
Instructions:
- Decide on the width and length of your paper strips
- Make a template for your kids to follow, or just cut out strips randomly
- Roll each strip of paper into a circle and fasten with glue, tape or staple (might need an adult)
- Put the next strip of paper through the circle to form the next link in your paper chain. Glue, tape or staple in place.
- Keep going until your chain is as long as you want!
Gift Wrap Paper Chain
Supplies:
- Holiday gift wrapping paper
- Scissors
- Glue, scotch tape or a stapler
Instructions:
- Decide on the width and length of your paper strips
- Make a template for your kids to follow, or just cut out strips randomly
- Roll each strip of paper into a circle and fasten with glue, tape or staple (might need an adult)

Reindeer Paper Chain
Supplies:
- Colored construction paper
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Glue
- Black marker
- Red pom-poms
Instructions
- Use the template to cut out reindeer strips and antlers
- Glue pom-poms as noses for the reindeer
- With a marker, make eyes for the reindeer
- Roll one of the finished reindeer into a loop and glue (tape or staple) the end underneath the reindeer's face
- Thread a plain link through the first reindeer link and glue as in previous step
- Continue until you have a chain the length that you want
