Our Origami For Kid page has free origami instructions for great decorating ideas.
Origami is the Japanese art of paper folding. The word literally means to fold (oru) paper (kami). It sounds a bit complicated, but if
you begin with our free origami instructions, it really is simple.
We found that younger kids are fascinated by this method of paper folding and older kids will love the challenge.
So whenever your kids yell "I'm bored" all you need to do is pull out a piece of paper and "dare them" to start folding.
Now let's see what Tammy and Jodi needed to complete their project.
Square piece of paper
Glass of water (for dipping chalk)
Pipecleaner (for antenna)
Craft eyes (optional)
1. Fold square piece of paper into a triangle.
2. Place triangle on flat surface with one corner at the top and two corners on the bottom. Fold the bottom right hand corner to the left and open.
3. Fold the bottom left hand corner to the right.
5. Decorate! We dipped colored chalk into water, drew on our origami butterfly and got cool results! Tammy was really proud!
