Two Easy Nursery Rhyme Activities!

If you love nursery rhymes you know that there's so much more to them than simple recitations.

We've been having so much fun brainstorming this subject as we work on this section of our site.

Maya came up with these two easy and fun nursery rhyme activities for Humpty Dumpty.

Take a look:

Humpty Dumpty Nursery Rhyme

The idea is super easy. Here's what you'll need:

  • One paper plate
  • Markers
  • Construction paper
  • Stapler
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Using our picture for reference:

For the face: Draw a line across the paper plate leaving 2/3 of the space for the face and 1/3 for the body. With a black marker draw eyes, nose, mouth and chin. Don't forget that your creativity is what will make this craft so special. So if you want to use stickers, paints or other art materials....go for it!

For the body: We used an orange marker to color Humpty's pants, but you can use whatever color you want. Three circles and you've got buttons!

For the arms: Maya cut out tow long arms (with hands, of course) out of white construction paper. She attached them to the body with a stapler.

For the legs and shoes: Once again, Maya used colored construction paper and stapled them onto the paper plate body.

That's've got yourself a cute Humpty Dumpty paper plate craft.

Our second Humpty Dumpty craft is made from styrofoam balls. Again, this idea is soooo simple!

Humpty Dumpty Nursery Rhyme

  • One styrofoam ball
  • Markers
  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue

The instructions are exactly the same as for the paper plate craft above. The only difference? You'll be using a styrofoam ball instead of the paper plate. How easy is that? When you finish your crafts, keep in mind that we'd love to see what you made. Grab a camera, snap a photo of your finished craft and submit your craft!
