Ready to Get your Creative Juices Flowing?

Get a head start on making sock puppets with three ideas from easy-child-crafts.com. Start off with the basics....socks! Add some yarn, a couple of buttons and you're on your way to creating great ideas for puppets.

First things first....decide on the puppet character you want to create. Dog, cat.....we went with a Kermit the Frog! Next thing you know, we were making sock people, and finally, Maya decided to create a colorful caterpillar! Most of the supplies were found lying around our house....$ investment = zero. Creativity....priceless.

Please note that these are original sock puppet patterns and are the copyrighted property of www.easy-child-crafts.com. They may not be copied, reproduced, republished, uploaded, posted, transmitted, or distributed in any way, except for your personal, noncommercial home use only.

That said....let's get crafting!

Materials

  • A printer--our template comes in pdf form
  • Construction paper, white printer paper or foam sheets (which is what we used to decorate our puppets)
  • Pieces of felt or material
  • Scissors
  • glue stick, white glue or a glue gun (adult supervision required)
  • Markers, crayons, colored pencils (your choice)
  • *For the Caterpillar--2 wiggle eyes and a pipe cleaner for the antennae

Instructions

Print out the template.

Cut out the template pieces.

Place the template on the material of your choice (construction paper, foam sheets, felt, etc.) and cut out.

Decorate the template pieces to your liking using either crayons, colored pencils, or markers . (Here's your chance to make this craft your own!)

Use our pictures as reference as to the placement of the body parts on the sock.

That's it....let the glue dry before you start playing and performing with your puppets!

Wait! There is one more thing we'd like to ask! Would you like to share your finished puppets with us?

We'd love to see what you made. Maybe you "tweaked" our patterns or came up with some AMAZING ideas of your own!
