A Hanukkah Decoration
Stained Glass Windows "Light Up" Your Home
Make a memorable Hanukkah decoration this year. Stained-glass window decorations will "light up" your home this holiday season and help create a festive mood.
It's a Hanukkah tradition to display a lighted menorah in a window of your home. This easy Hanukkah craft for kids lets you display a holiday scene from every window! Black construction paper, colored cellophane, glue and scissors are all you'll need....and a bit of imagination won't hurt, either!
Use some of the suggestions shown here (the Hanukkah display from the communal diningroom of Kibbutz Mishmar Hasharon), or create your own! Use the symbols of Hanukkah: the dreidel, menorah, candles, a jug....you decide. Follow our simple instructions, but above all....have fun!
Wishing you a Happy Hanukkah!
Supplies
- Black construction paper
- Colored cellophane or tissue paper
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Glue
- Scotch tape
Instructions
- Draw your design on a piece of black construction paper
- Cut out your design, being careful to leave some of the design "touching" the border of the paper. (Refer to pictures)
- Trace your design on a second sheet of black construction paper and cut out. (You should have two identical pictures.)
- Glue colored cellophane or tissue paper to the back of one of the designs.
- Glue the second design onto the first (like a sandwich) and glue in place.
