Looking for easy hand puppet patterns? Look no further!

Our free templates will give you great ideas for puppet making.

We made a squirrel and two dinosaur puppets, but you could easily add ears for a rabbit puppet, giant eyes for a kermit the frog puppet, or make your favorite nursery rhyme characters to act out a well-loved story (like "Little Red Riding Hood").

That said....let's get crafting!

Here's what you'll need:

Materials

A printer--our template comes in pdf form
Construction paper, white printer paper or foam sheets (which is what we used to decorate our puppets)
Pieces of felt or material
Scissors
Wiggle eyes
Glue stick, white glue or a glue gun (adult supervision required)
Markers, crayons, colored pencils (your choice)

Instructions

Print out the template by clicking on one of the pictures above or here for the basic pattern.

Cut out the template. Pin it to a piece of felt or other fabric and cut out two pieces.

Glue or sew the two felt/fabric pieces together.

Decorate the other template pieces to your liking using either crayons, colored pencils, markers or colored foam sheets.

Use our pictures as reference for the placement of the body parts on the hand puppet.

That's it....let the glue dry before you start playing and performing with your puppets!
