An Easy Kid Recipe for Valentine's Day

Heart Shaped Breakfast Pancakes

Head to the kitchen and whip up our special easy kid recipe for Valentine's Day!

Surprise your favorite Valentine Mom and Dad with breakfast in bed. Start with a basic pancake recipe, but put your "heart" into it this February 14th. Use heart-shaped molds to form special holiday pancakes that are sure to win your parents over. Even the smallest child can lend a hand....breaking eggs, stirring, adding the milk...it's easy! (But you might want an older child or adult to supervise).

Break out the breakfast tray....put a single red rose in that bud vase...and get ready to surprise your parents with this easy valentine treat.

Happy Valentine's Day from us at easy-child-crafts.com!

Basic Pancake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter or margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  • Add the milk, melted butter and egg in a mixing bowl and lightly beat
  • Sift together the remaining ingredients.
  • Add to the milk mixture
  • Stir just enough to dampen the flour
  • Add more milk, if necessary, to make the batter as thick as heavy cream

To cook: Test the griddle or frying pan for correct heat by sprinkling a few drops of water over it. They will "dance" when it is right. Heat the griddle or frying pan over moderate heat. Grease lightly with butter. Use a 1/4 cup measure to dip the batter onto the griddle or pan. Pour into a heart-shaped pancake mold.Cook until the cakes are full of bubbles and the undersurface is nicely browned. Lift with a pancake turner or spatula and brown the other side. Serve immediately with plenty of butter and warm maple syrup.
