Need a unique summer craft idea for kids? Well, we put our heads together and came up with this craft. It's a cool, easy craft idea that will keep your kids organized for every beach outing.
Make your own mark on a plain canvas tote bag using acrylic paints. This is a super easy summer craft idea that you can use again and again. Buy inexpensive canvas totes (or sew them up yourselves) and let your children express themselves with paint. When you're finished, load them up in your car and head for the waves (or pool).

Materials
- One plain canvas tote bag
- Acrylic paint
- Paintbrushes
Instructions:
1. Lay the tote bag flat on a protected surface (use newspaper, an old sheet, or plastic tablecloth)
2. Decide on a theme. Your initials...a drawing of the sun, a beach theme?
3. Use the brushes to paint the decoration of your choice
Here's our personal suggestion: Brush blue paint on the bottom half of the bag. Let dry. Paint the soles of your kids' feet with paint. Let them "walk" on the painted tote. To give the bag a sandy look, dip a dry brush into brown paint and "flick" the bristles with your finger. This will spray specks of "painted sand" all over the bag.
