Paint Yourself a Beach Bag

Here's a cool craft idea for kids that will keep them organized for every beach outing.

Make your own mark on a plain canvas tote bag using acrylic paints. This is a super easy summer craft idea that you can use again and again. Buy inexpensive canvas totes (or sew them up yourselves) and let your children express themselves with paint. When you're finished, check out our selection of other easy child crafts, load them up in your new beach bag and head for the waves (or pool). Don't forget the sunscreen...and above all....ENJOY!

Supplies

• Large canvas tote bag
• Acrylic paint
• Paint brushes

Instructions

• Lay the tote bag flat on a protected surface (use newspaper, an old sheet, or plastic tablecloth)
• Mix up the desired color of paint in a plate
• Use the brushes to paint the decoration of your choice

Here's our personal suggestion: Brush blue paint on the bottom half of the bag. Let dry. Paint the soles of your kids' feet with paint. Let them "walk" on the painted tote. To give the bag a sandy look, dip a dry brush into brown paint and "flick" the bristeles with your finger. This will spray specks of "painted sand" all over the bag.
