We've asked some of our friends to share their Christmas crafts and experiences with us as we take a "virtual" Christmas tour around the world.

Rita Petersen Goren hails from Denmark and shares her childhood memories with us, starting with a "Flette Jule-Hjerter."

This woven paper Christmas heart basket can be used as a tree ornament, or filled with sweets and given as a gift. Invented by Hans Christian Andersen in 1867, this traditional Danish tradition is sure to become one of your favorites. For more information, log on to www.haabet.dk.

Materials

• Two different colored pieces of construction paper
• A ruler
• Scissors
• A pencil
• Glue
• Our template

Instructions:

1. Always use our photos for reference.

2. Fold each piece of paper in half. Place our template on each piece of paper with the bottom edge of the template place on the fold line of your paper.

3. Cut along the dotted lines.

4. Place the two pieces of paper at 90 degree angles to one another. (Refer to picture for reference)

5. Start weaving you first row of piece one over and through the first row of piece 2. (refer to picture for reference)



6. Repeat 3 more times.



7. Cut a handle out of your leftover paper and attach with glue to the heart basket



That's it! You're ready to start decorating for the holidays!
