Carmel Apple Recipe for Kids

Stovetop Recipe for Caramel Apples:
Ingredients:
- Forty caramel candy cubes
- Five apples (Macintosh work well)
- One tablespoon water
- Five wooden popsicle sticks
- Wax paper
Instructions:
- Wash and dry the apples
- Remove the stems and insert the popsicle stick until it is halfway into the apple
- Place the caramels and the water in a small saucepan
- Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the caramels are completely melted
- Dip the apples into the hot caramel sauce, coating the apple completely
- Place on greased, wax paper
- Store your caramel covered apples in the refrigerator
- Before serving, remove from fridge and let stand at room temperature for fifteen minutes
Microwave Recipe for Caramel Apples:
Ingredients:
- 14-ounces caramel candy cubes
- Five apples (Macintosh work well)
- Two tablespoons hot water
- Five wooden popsicle sticks
- Wax paper, greased
Instructions:
- Wash and dry the apples
- Remove the stems and insert the popsicle stick until it is halfway into the apple
- Unwrap caramels and place in microwave safe mixing bowl; add water
- Microwave, uncovered for 2 minutes, 45 seconds or until caramels are melted, stirring occasionally and watching carefully
- Dip each apple into the hot caramel mixture, turning to coat.
- Place apples on greased wax paper
- If the caramel mixture becomes too stiff, just reheat it in the microwaver for about 20 seconds
- Refrigerate for twenty minutes until set
- Before serving, remove from fridge and let stand at room temperature for fifteen minutes
- Store in a cool place
