This is the story of how I came up with this child arts and craft idea.
Not so long ago, I taught English as a second language using the Helen Doron method. My students were eager little Israeli's aged 2-6. We would sit on the floor, in a circle and it was always a challenge
to come up with teaching aids that would keep the kids interested in the lesson.
One of the lessons involves a bear family. Judith Bear and Benny Bear are brother and sister, and they set out together with Mom and Dad on a shoe shopping adventure.
Each student had a lesson book, complete with stickers and coloring activities. But I thought it would be nice if they could also act out the story using popsicle stick puppets.
My son, Omri, came to my rescue (as he often does) and came up with these cartoon characters.
This child arts and craft idea served me very well. I used it in lessons as a supplementary coloring page, or had my students cut out the figures, attach them to popsicle sticks and use as puppets for a super storytelling prop.
I'm sure your kids will have loads of fun coloring our Bear Family and possibly making up their own script for puppet theater fun! Imagination is the key here...so have a go and enjoy!
