For a cool summer craft idea/activity consider using bubble recipes and stage a Bubble Contest right in your own backyard.
Start by mixing up a batch of bubble solution. Water, dish washing detergent and a container are basically all you'll need. For bigger, better bubbles, add a drop or two of glycerin (found at your local pharmacy) or a bit of corn syrup.
Choose from our list of recipes and you'll be on your way to having a "blow-out" good time!
Basic Bubble Solution
- One cup of water
- Two tablespoons liquid dishwashing detergent
- One tablespoon glycerin
- One-half teaspoon sugar
Giant Bubbles
- 6 cups water
- 3/4 cup corn syrup
- 2 cups liquid dishwashing detergent
Colored Bubble Recipe
- One cup soap powder (Ivory Flakes Detergent)
- One quart warm water
- Food coloring or small amounts of tempra paint
Hint: Use distilled water if your tap water is "hard". Also, take into consideration climate conditions in your area (which could effect the outcome of your bubble-making).
Have fun!
